 Special meeting awarded work tenders

This past Monday, March 1, Innisfail town council held a special meeting to award tenders for installing new compressors in the arena and curling rink in town.

The compressors help to keep the ice cool in both facilities and the town will be spending about $332,000 to have StarTec Refrigeration, out of Calgary, replace both units.

Bob Schulz, director of operations for the town, said this work was a budgeted item and the town did receive a grant from the federal government to cover one-third of the cost.

"Work will start April 1 and should take less than two months," he continued. "We will be doing it during shut down time at both facilities. The only problem I foresee will be co-ordinating with the people using the curling rink."
