Town moves to correct utility bill

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the cost of utilities for some of us folks that are away for part of the winter.
Since then, I have been contacted by the CAO, Helen Dietz, and the errors to our account have been corrected. I also learned some valuable information.
Unknown to me and perhaps to other snowbirds, we should inform the town office when we are going to be away. Then we will pay only the standard standby charge of about $47 per month.
It appears that the software program they are using thinks that after a couple of zero consumption months, it should just estimate the usage. Hence the overcharging.
I just received my latest bill today and have been given full credit for the errors.
Thank you to the administration for being so quick to respond to my little rant.
Feels good to be heard.
