Gas and dashing
On July 27, there was a “gas and dash” at a Penhold gas station. A white minivan took off after filling up with $62.88 in fuel.
The incident was reported at 4:31 p.m. but no licence plate was reported.
There was a similar incident in Bowden reported on Aug. 2 at 5:37 p.m. A pickup truck with a trailer took off with an unspecified amount of gas without paying. A licence plate was provided but it didn’t match the vehicle.
Alleged assaults
A couple of assault complaints came in to the police with no charges laid.
On July 27, a man complained he’d been hit with a broomstick. However, all those involved in the incident were known to each other and no charges were laid.
At 9:36 a.m. on July 30, an assault complaint came in from the McDonald’s. A woman had slapped another lady after some accusations of being a cat-killer were uttered. No charges were laid.
Impaired driving charge
A 51-year-old Innisfail man is facing impaired driving charges after he was pulled over at 3:44 a.m. on July 29 near the Zoo bar.
The man had been spotted driving at a high rate of speed on 50 Street, turning without signalling and failing to obey a stop sign.
Break and enter
A break-and-enter complaint came in regarding École John Wilson Elementary on July 29 at 7:34 p.m.
Police located three youths between the ages of eight and 10 on the property. They’d found the door unlocked. Nothing was taken from the school.
An attempted break-in was reported at the Coffee Cottage on July 30. The lock was damaged but the property was not entered. The attempt had probably occurred the night before.
Car mischief
On July 31, two complaints of slashed tires were reported from the night before.
The first one came in from 42 Avenue. Oil plugs had been removed from the car, leaving oil on the ground, and all four tires were slashed.
The second was located on 47 Street. Two tires were slashed.
There are no suspects in either incident.
Abandoned vehicle
A grey Ford Crown Victoria was abandoned on the QEII.
Police had the vehicle towed on Aug. 2. It was located north of Old Pole Road. The licence plate on the car was not associated with the vehicle so the owner has not been located.
Speeding motorcycle
RCMP received a complaint about a speeding motorcyclist that had pulled off the QEII into Innisfail on Aug. 2.
They located the cyclist who ended up charged with wearing an illegal helmet, suspended driving, driving with no insurance and driving with no registration.
Money theft
A theft of $913 was reported on Aug. 2 at 9:02 p.m. from the Century Theatre.
The money had been taken from the Greyhound cash located at the theatre. The front door had been left unlocked overnight.
There are no suspects in the case.
