Citizens catch fire

Two weeks ago, members of Innisfail Citizens on Patrol came across an unattended grass fire in a park in town.

They contacted Innisfail RCMP who in turn contacted the fire department.

Cpl. A.J. Mand said the fire "could have been catastrophic" if it hadn't been for the sharp-eyed Citizens on Patrol.

Shot-up equipment

Innisfail RCMP are looking for tips after someone caused damage to a John Deere Track Hoe on Rge. Rd. 251 near Highway 590.

According to a police press release the damage was done to the heavy equipment machinery with a firearm sometime between June 3 and June 8.

Fuel card theft

Local RCMP are also looking for the public’s help with regards to a “series of crimes” in which suspects took a UFA fuel card from a stolen Ford F350. The card has been used to purchase large amounts of fuel at different UFA Card Lock locations around the province.

A white Ford F350 was stolen from the Ramada Hotel in Drayton Valley on June 7. It was recovered near Pine Lake on June 10. During that time the fuel card was used in Innisfail, Red Deer, Gasoline Alley, Edmonton, Smoky Lake and Glendon.

The suspects were seen attending the UFA Card Lock locations driving F350 trucks and filling spray tanks, slip tanks and other “improvised holding tanks” that were in the backs of the trucks according to the RCMP press release.

Both F350s are described as newer model diesel pickups. One is a dark coloured, two-tone truck with factory running boards. The other is described as grey with nerf style running boards.

The two suspects are both male and were wearing dark sweats and hoodies.

Break and enter

Tips from the public are being sought after a break and enter in Penhold on June 13.

According to a police press release, a residence on Hawthorne Way was broken into in the morning when the property owners were not home.

The RCMP Forensic Identification Unit went to the scene.

RCMP said a suspicious black car was observed in the area around the time of the break-in. An investigation is ongoing and the public is asked to report any information they have on suspicious people or vehicles they saw in the area at the time.
